I loved how detailed Joy was in her selection of products that she not only has in her physical store but in her online one as well.  “Natural Joy Beauty opened online on Earth Day April 2008. The retail location soon followed, opening mid August 2008 in Sandy, UT. The business was started out of my desire to create a store where customers could feel confident about the ingredients in all of the products available. I had quickly learned during my own search to find natural alternatives for my makeup and body care, just how much "green washing" there is with products being marketed as natural and organic that really aren't...even those sold in  health food stores. Many still contain questionable ingredients. At Natural Joy Beauty, we research the ingredients for you, list all ingredients under each product and carefully choose only those products that do not contain:

• NO Phenoxyethanol (a.k.a. Optiphen)
• NO Parabens, Germall or Germaben
• NO Japanese Honeysuckle (preservative form)
• NO FD&C Colorants or Synthetic Fragrance
• NO Toulene, Formaldehyde or Phthalates
• NO Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone or Diazolidinyl Urea
• NO Talc, Nano-Particles or Aluminum
• NO Bismuth Oxychloride, Titanium Dioxide (loose form)
• NO Petroleum, Mineral Oil or Paraffin
• NO Triclosan or Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates
• NO Animal Testing

I asked to try the Basa Body Lotion. I was intrigued by the use of virgin coconut oil hand prepared by a small village in Africa called Mombassa. Not only does the lotion moisturize and nourish my skin, my purchase helps to provide for these women in Kenya.  The lotion is lightly scented with the coconut oil, not overpowering that you can’t wear a perfume with it. It is a smooth, thick lotion that easily melds into your skin.

 

I also tried the Coconut Oil Lip butter, which also has peppermint in it. It is smooth and goes on so beautifully. For those who like shiny lips this is the right lip butter for you. A word of caution though as with any products containing peppermint, if your lips are overly dry this may cause some discomfort because of the peppermint. Some people are not sensitive to it and it can be soothing, others it can be painful.
